Welcome to Southern House of Hope, where our goal is to provide a home for girls ages 14-18 labeled as “children without placement” in the Texas foster care system. Southern House of Hope will offer refuge and love while they are facing adversity.
The numbers in the Texas foster care system are staggering: as of September 2021, more than 28,000 children were in Texas care. Of those,
161 were labeled “children without placement” simply due to their age (13-17 years old).
Our intention is to open a home that will give these girls much more than housing. We will offer homeschooling, equine therapy, cooking classes, and private and group counseling. Our goal is to offer a clear pathway to a better life.
We will also be offering independent living for when they start to age out of the system.
From the ground up we will be intentional with our building, single-story construction to provide a visual openness and a sense of community. The commercial kitchen will provide space for culinary classes and self-led cooking. We will also have modern security technology and computer resources.
Southern House of Hope can only become the solution with your help.
We need your financial support to provide a brighter future for so many young women. Our needs are more than just financial: we need your talents, skills, and network. Please consider donating, volunteering, and sharing information about Southern House of Hope to fulfill our mission of helping girls in the Texas foster care system.
